“Being around music all the time, you become isolated. The Desert Island Dozen gives us the opportunity to see what resonates with the listeners when they get involved in programming. I am always surprised, and I think the listeners will be too,” said Martin.

All funds raised during the Desert Island Dozen, and other WUSM events, are used to update equipment and software to keep graduates competitive in the current media marketplace. WUSM, which broadcasts from the Hattiesburg campus of USM, is the Pine Belt’s only community radio station and provides hands-on experience within the radio industry to students.

Thank you to everyone that tuned and/or gave during the Desert Island Dozen!  Everyone here at WUSM is thankful for the time given to this event by some of our most devoted fans and community leaders.  We loved having company so much, we are planning to do it again in the Fall, so stay tuned for some more of the best music ever recorded from our local music aficionados.  In the meantime, bask in the song lists from the Spring of 2016’s featured guests.
